ActionCOACH welcomes leading business performance coach to UK team
At the ActionCOACH franchise conference last week, Myles Downey was introduced as the latest director to join the UK support team. Widely recognised as a world-class authority on performance, coaching and leadership, he joins ActionCOACH to strengthen further the UK’s Best B2B Franchise. His three books in the coaching and performance arena, ‘Effective Modern Coaching’, ‘Effective Coaching’ and most recently ‘Enabling Genius – a mindset for success in the 21st Century’ are considered classics in the business coaching profession.
Speaking to 200+ franchise partners and their teams at the conference, Myles took them back to the fundamentals of why they chose to be business coaches – to make a difference to people’s lives. He then shared just some of the tools and frameworks available to the network, to raise the bar on coaching performance and keep driving results.
“I’ve worked with ActionCOACH several times over the last 10 years, delivering master classes to develop coaching skills. From my perspective, ActionCOACH is very different from every other coaching business in the UK, in fact, I would say globally. I often observe other coaching firms sadly lacking in the practical experience of understanding what it’s like to be a business owner. Action Coaches are business and provide practical help to people in business – that’s a massive distinction.”
Myles will be spearheading ActionCOACH’s 2020 campaign encouraging UK business owners to Think Big. This doesn’t relate to big action or big profits, although this is part of how a business coach can help, but directs business owners to think like a big business who would bring in the professionals for each area of expertise.
“For example, rather than ask your nephew to build your company’s website because he knows how to code, we’re reminding business owners that bringing in the professionals will save you time and money in the long run. That’s why, if you want to grow your business, you should use an ActionCOACH business growth specialist,” added Myles.
James Vincent is the Performance Director at ActionCOACH UK and recently became a franchise partner when he invested in two ActionCOACH franchise territories, “I have a fantastic team helping me to build my franchise business in Yorkshire so my major focus is still on supporting our network to be the best business coaches in the UK. Bringing Myles into the team had been a goal of mine for some time and luckily he didn’t take too much convincing!”
As one of a team of over 30 coaches for the UK’s franchise partners, James won the Master Coach of the Year at the conference last week at St George’s Park National Football Centre. The awards ceremony formed part of a black-tie dinner celebrating best coaching practice and best client results.
“All but two sessions for the two-day conference were delivered by our franchise partners on areas they excel in – accountability, consistent growth, presentation skills and team building. The collaboration across ActionCOACH never fails to impress me. It’s a pleasure to welcome Myles Downey to our team – he’s already made a huge impact,” said Ian Christelow, ActionCOACH UK Co-founder.
Ellis Bardsley, multi-award-winning coach and seven years a franchise partner with ActionCOACH, felt strongly about Myles’ session at this year’s conference, “Finding the balance between providing instructional, tactical ideas and direction with a client, otherwise known as transactional coaching, and working with them to develop their own belief, confidence and identity as a business owner is key to our work.
“Myles’ session, his books and coaching ethos highlight that the art of coaching is not about ‘keeping your eye on the ball and hitting it harder’! It’s about what you are thinking, what you are focusing on, what your objectives are and how much you believe in delivering them. He explains in his unique way, that we are our own glass ceiling and no amount of quick-fix solutions for business development will generate lasting results without personal growth and development. To which high-quality business coaching is the solution.”
