Monster Sushi has revealed plans to sell franchises of its successful restaurant brand across the United States. The company, which already runs two sites in New York and one in New Jersey, was founded in 1997 and has become known both for using fresh and high quality produce on its menu as well as for its US take on traditional Japanese cuisine.
The National Restaurant Association has reported a 40 per cent growth in sushi consumption since the 1990s, and restaurant franchise opportunities in this sector are expected to continue to be among the most rapidly advancing.
Chief executive officer of Monster Sushi Franchises Carl Waltzer said the firm was “franchising its successful concept across the country” in order to afford “partners the chance to leverage the fastest-growing market segment in the $511 billion restaurant industry”.
He added: “We are delighted to offer franchises and look forward to offering our franchise partners a turn-key solution so that they can enjoy the same success we have for nearly a decade.”
An increasing awareness of Asian culture and a demand for healthy foods has boosted the sushi market in the US and also in the UK, where chains Itsu and Yo! Sushi have seen success.
