Fruit To Suit is an award-winning social enterprise that teaches children in both primary and secondary schools the basics of running a business combined with a healthy eating ethic that will stay with them well into adulthood.
The aims of Fruit To Suit are to inspire children who are interested in learning more about business, challenging their perceptions and creating new entrepreneurs of the future. As well as this, Fruit To Suit helps children to develop practical business knowledge at any early age which will increase their employment opportunities – they may even choose to start their own business or purchase a franchise.
On top of the business skills that will be learned there are the healthy eating benefits too. Fruit To Suit aims to combat childhood obesity by making children more interested in what they are eating and where that food comes from.
How does Fruit To Suit do all of this? It does it by training children to set up and operate tuck shops within their schools. These tuck shops would only sell healthy snacks and would be run as a business to make a profit. This business and enterprise programme means that children can get a head start in life both in terms of education and health.
