With head offices located in the Hunnington area of Worcestershire, and centres in Croydon, Durham and Edinburgh, Leaps and Bounds is one of the foremost physical development programs for preschool age children in the UK. Having been recognised professionally with a Kite Mark award by the Professional Development Board of Physical Education in 2006, and initially developed with the assistance and guidance of Patricia Maude MBE, an expert in the field of childhood physical development, at the world-renowned Cambridge University.
The programme itself is split into three separate age groups, Walking-2 years, 2-3 years and 3-school age. Within each age group the objectives are the same, to develop motor skills and improve confidence, to improve both their physical and mental memory and recall skills, and to ensure a manageable step by step development that continuously builds the children’s skill range.
These aims are achieved through a vibrant and exciting programme that is completely attuned to both the needs of the parent and child. With colourful equipment, and a mixture of actions, songs and rhymes, there is an emphasis on both fun and learning. Each lesson plan is delivered in activity blocks with specific targeted objectives by trained instructors, with additional tasks for child and parent to do together at home. Ensuring that at this critical stage in any child’s development they are being carefully looked after and readying them for their forthcoming school years.
