Maths should never be boring; there is such a wide range of things it can do and teach children (and adults) that there should always be a way to teach it that engages and excites. That is exactly why Spaghetti Maths was formed – Spaghetti Maths is that exciting, fun way of learning maths that has so often been missing from children’s lives.
Due to the fact that children use words every day but they use numbers far less, there is often a lack of confidence when it comes to maths – the children don’t want to get their lessons wrong and this can mean that they don’t try to work things out by themselves. They would rather be told the answers. This isn’t what Spaghetti Maths is all about. Spaghetti Maths encourages children to be more confident around figures, allowing them to try ideas out for themselves.
By stimulating a child’s natural curiosity and eagerness to learn, the Spaghetti Maths tutors can show them that maths can not only be practical and useful but huge fun too. The aim of each session is to send the children away having learned something mind-blowing that they can relate to their everyday lives and to encourage them to want to learn more.
