Talking Tots was created in 2005 after the founders realised that other parents might need help encouraging their own children to develop speech and language. Children who are able to communicate clearly and confidently have an advantage over their peers who can’t and this helps them enormously when they start nursery or even school.
Finding a way to enable all children to gain these language skills is the aim behind Talking Tots. Children learn best when that learning comes through play, so the sessions are built around this concept, combining games, activities and songs to boost the social and communication skills of each child.
The programme is designed to benefit all children and each class is structured to fall in line with the expectations of that child’s age. What’s exciting about Talking Tots is that it is a full three year programme so no matter age the child is they will continue to learn and be challenged for the long term.
The programme itself took a team of educational psychologists, speech and language therapists and early years teachers to come up with something that isn’t only education and life enhancing but that is fun too. In fact, this is the only class of its type in the UK.
