The Phat Pasty Co’s unique quirky concept began in 2006 when Laura Clark, the originator of The Phat Pasty Co decided to invest in a van, the Phat Pasty Van. This was no ordinary van, it was designed to take the Cornish pasties that she remembered enjoying on holidays as a child, out to the work place.
The company, which is based in Milton Keynes, enjoyed such success in its first years, that it offered franchising opportunities in 2009. The Phat Pasty Co has also added the Phat Potato Van to its repertoire. This van sells baked potatoes with a variety of filling. The company also provides, sandwiches, baguettes, salads and soups.
The Phat Pasty Co partnered with Bidvest Food Service in 2011, enabling the company to distribute their products nationwide. The introduction of Phat Pies in 2014 was a great success, the pies being sold in pubs, venues and universities. The icing on the cake was in 2016, with Virgin Atlantic taking mini pasties on board to share the taste of Cornwall with their passengers.
The Phat Pasty Co offers full training for their franchisees, either in Milton Keynes or at the franchisee’s location. One of its attractions is that it’s a business that can be run from home.
