Zaks

Zaks is the name of a chain of restaurants which bill themselves as ‘Authentic American Diners’.  Zaks’ burgers have been part of life in Norwich and Norfolk since 1976, with grandparents and grandchildren alike talking about the great food experience.

It was Harvey Platt, musician and businessman, who decided that Norwich needed a little piece of America.  He began by selling authentic American burgers from a caravan in Norwich.  Great Yarmouth was the home of Zaks first restaurant in 1978, followed by a second in Norwich the following year.  Harvey sold Zaks to Blue Sky Leisure in 1998 who began to franchise the business in 2013.

The company describes themselves as a neighbourhood restaurant, buying local produce and supporting local charities.  Their iconic burgers have been made by the same company for over 40 years.

To celebrate their 40 years in business, in 2016, Blue Sky Leisure, the family owned business that runs Zaks, set up a replica of the original caravan and sold burgers at 1976 prices, with all proceeds going to charity.  The company were delighted at the massive queues that formed to help them celebrate 40 years of success.
