The Enfield Independent reports today on a meeting to discuss the closure of the Enfield Post Office. Post Office bosses will, apparently, be put on the hotspot tomorrow by residents angered with plans to franchise the service.
A meeting has been arranged by London Assembly member for Enfield and Haringey, Joanne McCartney, who is said to be dismayed at plans to cut sub-post offices in the borough and to lease the remaining crown offices to retailers offering a reduced counter service.
She said: “The Post Office has asked for customers comments and I have written to express my opposition, but the contracts have already been signed. “In my view this is a poor consultation process. The community needs answers and reassurance. This meeting should provide the opportunity for both sides to put forward their views.”
